Stretch in both directions means the tube widens with the calf and the thigh instead of gripping at one point and cutting in at another. That is why a single size works across a genuinely wide range here, where a woven stocking would need four. The trade is that a very full thigh will stretch the wet-look face thinner and the shine will read lighter at the band.

Two minutes of
technique, once

• Rings off

  A wet-look face scuffs where a matte knit lets jewellery slide. Rings and long nails first.

• Bunch, then roll

  Gather the whole tube down to the toe, place the foot, then roll upward. Do not pull from the cuff.

• Dry legs

  Damp skin drags on the coated face. Lotion especially — let it absorb fully first.

• Seat the cuff last

  Get the foot and calf sitting flat before you set the band. Twisting it afterwards marks the gloss.
