This is built the opposite way round from most underwear. The front is a smooth low-rise panel, seamless and effectively invisible beneath anything you put over it. All the interest sits at the back and the sides, where three fine bands cross each hip in place of a solid waistband and meet at the centre through three polished metal O-rings. What gets seen is exactly what does not show from the front.

The rings define the piece, and against black the contrast makes them jump: bright metal on matte fabric with nothing else competing for the eye. The knit is a soft stretch that gives with movement and settles flat, so it neither digs in nor prints a line through clothing. Cold hand wash, mild detergent, flat to dry. Keep it clear of bleach, the tumble dryer and the iron. Store it spread out so the rings do not stack on each other or catch on the thin straps.
