Four steps, every time

Only water-based lubricant
Both silicone and oil-based lubricants degrade TPE. Water-based lubricant is the only one that is safe.

Rinse each opening
An IPX7 rating means the sink is fine. After each use, work a mild unscented soap and warm water into the base channel and along the shaft.

Dry it completely, inside and out
Damp left sitting inside a porous channel is what causes trouble weeks later. Allow more drying time than seems necessary before the bag goes back on.
